AR15 Crossbow

Still have my Barnet crossbow - it is seriously powerful and as said above the bolts can be very hard to remove from trees &c especially when fired from close range!

If I turned up at my Archery Club with one of those, I'd have people pawing all over it a begging for a go - especially the coaches! :lol:

I'd have one, especially as after 20 odd years of shooting with a B&A, I've gone over to the "dark side" and started crossbow shooting.

Since starting with the crossbow, shooting standing unsupported has improved.

The question is, could you own an AR-15 lower in this country, just for that crossbow?

Bolts, Quarrels, Arrows all the same thing. The convention is bolts or quarrels, but the use of "arrows" in regard to crossbows is creeping in. My guess is to make them more "archery friendly".

I'd love a decent crossbow, but as stated, unless you have oodles of private land at your disposal (and if you do, why bother with a crossbow when you can play with powder burning firearms ), where would you use one?

Shoot it in your backyard! 20 -30m will do as long as you have a decent back stop. The thing to realise is that crossbows are very inefficient. This is why the poundage is so high - mine is 150lb draw weight, which equates to about a 50-60 lb recurve bow.

We were talking about this at lunch time - the suggestion was that they would be ideal for use against the illegals ... and they have an almost "open licence" on those in that almost any local group can go out and do a "border patrol".

There was a program on Discovery last week on how they are made...very accurate and less punishing on the draw.

They do look hi tech and not very traditional...but who cares...look like good fun but expensive...not like rifles. :lol: :lol:
