Re: MOD Range bookings

#11 Post by phaedra1106 »

The story I was told was that some idiot in the MoD incorrectly issued orders banning civilian clubs, about 2-3 weeks ago a Lt General found out about it and had the orders rescinded.

I booked 5 dates on Friday after talking to Landmarc, I then got a reply saying the OTA (Otterburn Training Area) were still saying that it was a max. of 6 people. I double checked with Nick at the NRA and of course they were wrong (once again) so they've now agreed we can have up to 30 people present (as long as we have Covid specific risk management procedures in place).

I'm now waiting for bid allocations and confirmations coming back from Landmarc.

Hi
Just got "Provisional Acceptance" for Catterick range bids for November. Hoping they are confirmed & if they are then the weather gods are kind to us on the day.

Well we're cancelled again.

Otterburn rang Landmarc and told them all OTA (Otterburn and Ponteland) range bookings for November are cancelled due to Covid.

No details if it's a specific incident or some forthcoming local area lockdown.

It gets better

Apparently it was an Otterburn OTA decision (that'll be Major O'Kane), that has now been overturned by a Colonel Holden so we're back on again!

My local club had shoots booked for this weekend at lydd and in a couple of weeks at hythe both of which have been cancelled.

Unsure of the reason for lydd but Hythe was due to there being no army staff on the ranges that day (though this was a semi regular occurrence even before Covid)

I have had all three of my bookings confirmed. Weird goings-on.

And here we go again!

Resent emails to our members this afternoon for our first booking (Nov.1st), had a few replies straight away and booked them in.

Went off, made a bacon bun and a cup of tea and came back to a text from a fellow club secretary, Landmarc had told him the 1st has been cancelled yet again, we can't get range access until our booking on the 8th.

So I now have to email all our members yet again ****
