6.8mm ammo the most up to date video I’ve found the plastic ammo looks interesting.

Makes sense in a way, every thing is getting converted for metal to plastic anyway...oops I meant polymer.

One benefit is definitely that it will save weight, carry more?

A problem with caseless is that it doesn't remove heat from the chamber like a metallic cartridge case. Fired brass is hot because some of the heat energy created on firing the round is retained by the ejected case.

thats why one of the rifles sounds a bit like an 1873 with the chamber not really a chamber, it moves up and down, with the next round pushing out the old casing. and exposing the 'chamber' to air to aid cooling

sounds like more to break personally

6.8mm?
Hmmm; so that would be about .280 (British) then....?

The other issue with caseless is how do you remove an unfired round, the German G11 rifle had a chamber that rotated 90 degree with the next round pushing out any unfired round. The vertically moving chamber would perform the same function.

sorry, just noticed, none of this ammo is caseless... 2 of them are polymer cased. the other type is standard. of the 2 polymer cases, one is a polymer version of a standard brass case, the other is a telescoping round I believe. so the bullet sits inside the casing and its a nice tube.
