6.8mm ammo the most up to date video I’ve found the plastic ammo looks interesting.

Makes sense in a way, every thing is getting converted for metal to plastic anyway...oops I meant polymer.

A problem with caseless is that it doesn't remove heat from the chamber like a metallic cartridge case. Fired brass is hot because some of the heat energy created on firing the round is retained by the ejected case.honsu wrote:https://youtu.be/pYqEJsMLg_g

thats why one of the rifles sounds a bit like an 1873 with the chamber not really a chamber, it moves up and down, with the next round pushing out the old casing. and exposing the 'chamber' to air to aid coolingchannel12 wrote:A problem with caseless is that it doesn't remove heat from the chamber like a metallic cartridge case. The other issue with caseless is how do you remove an unfired round, the German G11 rifle had a chamber that rotated 90 degree with the next round pushing out any unfired round. The vertically moving chamber would perform the same function.bradaz11 wrote:thats why one of the rifles sounds a bit like an 1873 with the chamber not really a chamber, it moves up and down, with the next round pushing out the old casing. and exposing the 'chamber' to air to aid coolingchannel12 wrote:A problem with caseless is that it doesn't remove heat from the chamber like a metallic cartridge case. Re: Next gen weapon system
sorry, just noticed, none of this ammo is caseless... 2 of them are polymer cased. the other type is standard. of the 2 polymer cases, one is a polymer version of a standard brass case, the other is a telescoping round I believe. so the bullet sits inside the casing and its a nice tube.channel12 wrote: The other issue with caseless is how do you remove an unfired round, the German G11 rifle had a chamber that rotated 90 degree with the next round pushing out any unfired round.
