Labour won the Durham PCC election by 3168 votes .

I think the term Police Commissar might be more accurate title but a little too Soviet for Britain.

I dunno. Didn't we used to have a Crime Tsar? Or was it a Drug Tsar? All these catchy but meaningless job titles used to deflect disillusion in performance blur into one after a while.

Exactly how does we go about arranging for, say, the gold holdings of the Bank of England, to be transferred to The Sett? Will an email to the commissioner suffice, or do we have to put it in real writing? We can do iron and oak gall ink on proper parchment if needed...

What has happened to "Spent Convictions"?

Drink Driving 30+ years ago is apparently enough for him to be disqualified. You have to ask, how it came to light, although he was originally advised it was not a reason for barring him. Someone has been digging dirt ...

So were the police!! Any obviously political policies or wrangling's by the police should be treated in the exact same way as if they were caught getting a brown envelope under the table in a motorway services as far as i'm concerned!

Both me and my wife voted for the other guy. Durham has always been one, if not THE safest Labour stronghold in the country at all levels due to the prevalence of mining. Until everyone who was an adult/aware in the early 70's has shuffled off this mortal coil, it likely always will be.
