Re: Doctor certification for FAC
Have been through my on-line data and definitely nothing there either as text or strange marker.
I'm with the Met and last renewal was 2019 - I was not asked for a letter from my GP although they may have asked

I was asked by the doctor last time I saw one if I was a police officer as there was some note on my paperwork mentioning the police. I just told him no, and had no idea what that was about.

But GPs are not being asked for an opinion on your suitability to own firearms, just to confirm that you don't suffer from any of the notifiable medical conditions.SevenSixTwo wrote: ↑Sun Aug 29, 2021 11:01 pm It's interesting to see the amount of GPs who are also qualified psychiatrists...
The medical form from Thames Valley Police asks GPs not to put a marker on patients' records as it's seen as a security risk.

My GP wasn't contacted or asked to provide a check on my last renewal, neither were any of my referees.
Lucky I'm quite sane, isn't it?!

I have had that too ... on one co-terminus renewal I used a Vet, Headteacher and Rector (vicar) just to see what might happen.SevenSixTwo wrote: ↑Thu Sep 02, 2021 8:24 am My GP wasn't contacted or asked to provide a check on my last renewal, neither were any of my referees.

I scanned through my medical notes when I installed the NHS app and there was a marker put on there identifying me as holding firearms.
This is in Dorset.
Re: Doctor certification for FAC
My GP notes say 'Has firearm certificate'. It's listed under the 'Problems' category.
Anyone looking at those notes in a hospital can obviously see that as well.

Next time you see your GP, ask why having firearms is a problem.

Re: Doctor certification for FAC
I suspect that if you've held a FAC / SGC for a significant amount of time (38 years in my case), and haven't had a run in with the law (not so much as a parking ticket in my case) with no GP reservations, then a referee's opinion is just superfluous paperwork. After all, nobody is going to submit referees that are likely to 'diss' them, in the parlance of our times, are they?SevenSixTwo wrote: ↑Thu Sep 02, 2021 8:24 am My GP wasn't contacted or asked to provide a check on my last renewal, neither were any of my referees.
