Gsg 1911 thicker grips

#1 Post by bradaz11 »

Well I decided I need meatier stocks on my 1911, so I set about modifying a design I liked online, a few iterations later and I now have a more substantial grip, bringing my knuckles more central to the grip. Added 2mm to the width on each side. I also noticed the stock gsg ones I have taper, so are thinner at the bottom and roughly the same at the top, so I wonder if that's the reason mine feels thin? Not sure if this is the norm or mine are a one off defect

Added the UK detail because why not? As far as I know we are the only ones dealing with coat hangers so no one else would want this version anyway.

Have you made these grips your self or are they bought in.

Nice design, well executed. Would have been nice in a white/cream colour for an ivory effect.

I have the target grips on mine, they’re great and fill my bear paws much better than the standard, only downside is it makes it a little harder to hit the mag release without adjusting your grip

I find the same problem. Although I don't do competition shooting with it so I am not usually in a position where I need to drop a mag quickly so it doesn't bother me much.
