Keep copies of online FAC forms!

#1 Post by Fenix1 »

Just had Kent Police on the phone, asking about a 1 for 1 I had submitted, they had no record of the the shotguns and firearms disposal I had submitted on their website. Luckily I took a copy and can forward it to them. Gunshop had notified them. As far as I am aware the online system is shared between forces, so always keep a copy! I found that the 1 for 1 request wasn't easy to find.

All the best

That's nothing. When I renewed my FAC 12 years ago, my FEO asked me what guns I owned because their computer had gone tits up and they had lost all my information including what guns I had.
He had to write everything down and take serial number etc. Gawd knows how many guns went astray.
Never argue with an idiot, he will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.

TVP give a reference number and email it whenever notifying of a disposal / purchase online. Until this post I'd assumed that all forces did it this way (the sensible way).

I too am in Kent, I always save the confirmation emails just in case. The main case I had similar to this was when I went to renew my explosives cert which they had no record of yet I had the proof my end. I had sent it in early and chased a couple weeks before the old one expired-to their credit they sorted it afterwards in about a week

For important emails I tag them with "Delivery Receipt" and "Read Receipt". In 99% of cases the Delivery in confirmed unless a company has tweaked their mail server to not send them Read receipts however are controlled by the mail client on the PC - and in many cases companies automatically set it to OFF. The Met police have it OFF in the FEO team although ON for other contacts in teh Met - it should where important comms are being received be set to ON but my comments to that team have fallen on deaf ears.

I have an email and desktop folder of every variation, condition change and renewal i've done. Comes in handy when your FLD accuses you of using guns at a club not cleared for that type (even though that wasn't the case AND i'd left the club 3 years beforehand 8-) lol )
