Unidentified scope

#1 Post by Richo »

Can any experts identify this rifle scope made by Winchester Arms, it has a serial number 21056 and 1917 is that a date!! its approximately 12.1/2" long, the tube dia is 0.778" and the two collars which are split measure 0.988".
The collars are made from steel and have a split across them i assume to adjust for eye relief, the rest of the scope is made from brass the recticle is fine cross hairs and adjusts by the two knurled rings at the end.
Any info on this would be appreciated and any ideas of the rifles to would have been fitted onto.

Hi,
Yes i know its not a Winchester A5, just a little bit if a mystery as to what uts iff, an American scope with crows foot mark!!
I asume its dated 1917, maybe its nothing to do with rifles, just looks a little small for anything bigger like a field gun.
Its in great condition so doubt it saw much use.

I think it's an artillery scope , for attachment to a medium gun like a 17pounder.
