All the best to everyone for the big festival and a good new year.
Hogmanay and new year is our big annual celebration, we don't bother with the shopping festival that is xmas.
Made the tattie soup yesterday with some good mutton flank and home grown vegetables, it'll rest now 'till tomorrow night.
The Black Bun tin is out and ready to be opened.
I'll be roasting the venison today for the venison and black pudding sandwiches with lashings of wasabi, using this now as its hard to get decent horseradish.
Ne'er day, roast gammon and mustard with a dry cider sauce, home grown kerrs pinks roasted and mashed along with kale, parsnips, carrots and swed from the croft.
Finish with clootie dumpling and double cream.
All accompanied with copious amounts of Clynelish.
Kay has some fireworks from her birthday so we will fire them off at midnight on the 31st.
The great festival of friends and family at the turning of the year, I love it.
Happy Hogmanay and all the best for 2012 for you all.

I use http://www.englishprovender.com/condime ... adish.html which is 83% horseradish and not adulterated with turnip or swede! I use 2 tbsp horseradish, stir in 1/2 tsp lemon juice to get it moist, 1/2 tsp of ground mustard seeds with a little water (or Colmans mustard) and then 1 -2 tsp of double cream - just tweak the quantities to what meets your taste.dromia wrote: I'll be roasting the venison today for the venison and black pudding sandwiches with lashings of wasabi, using this now as its hard to get decent horseradish.
When you say wasabi - do you mean REAL wasabi or the green stuff in tubes? Most of that in the tube is actually horseradish and not wasabi.
If you can source any real wasabi root, let me know. My small tin of real wasabi powder is almost gone.
Earlier this year Sainsburys had some horseradish root - I should have had more when it was there but it lasted just a day and then not repeated so far - the excuse "did not sell" but two vegetable boxes full went in about 8 hours!
And best wishes for tomorrow ... I have yet another decent haggis!
