I do understand your frustration at not getting kit that is ready to use. I think that lack of investment means that sometimes with scopes they may have to rob Peter to pay Paul.

Hi all

My experience
My first NRA shot was at 500 yards on a Sat
I requested a scope gun since I needed that on my SCC for the FAC

Summary of events
1.gun 1 Scope not working -no movable turrets
2. Gun 2 setup for 300 not enough elevation for 500
3. Gun 3 scope totally clouded
4. Gun 4 scope front section bent
5 gun 5 did not work - cant remember reason

Let's say Fawlty Towers came to mind

RCO great tried to make it work

I resorted to Using a TR RIFLE and some friendly blokes let me finish my second box of ammo in a rifle scoped they had

My approach would be

Select 30 best rifles
1. Clean barrels properly
2. Buy / get supplier to sponsor basic 4 - 10 scopes
3. Decent scope mounts
4. Write zero on card attached to butt

A new member exposed a brand in positive fashion will likely buy that brand

The idea of sponsorship for the rifles must be worth looking at, people like Garlands import a fair few rifles every year so what price 'loaning' 4 to the NRA, I am sure it would be good marketing.

The NRASC has purchased 2 new Sightron scopes for it's scoped rifles and they are staying on them - full stop, no argument. We are in the process of getting all the relevant elevations and noting these on the gun itself - books have a tendancy to vanish!!

First step in the long haul but we are getting there.
