#1 Post by DOGGER2UK »

Just seen this on the Henry Krank web site

Online petition to license .22 pistols

An online petition has been launched on the Government's website urging the Home Office to reclassify .22 pistols as firearms which can be legally held on a Section 1 license. The e-petition needs 100,000 signatures by the time it closes in August 2012 to be considered for debate in parliament. To sign the petition

I think it's all the same petition, however I don't think they will get the required 100,000 signatures as its not got past 11k yet and just reading that they only managed to gather 1,500 from the Newark show which isn't a great figure with how many actually visited, however they were not very proactive in getting signatures at the show as I saw no one actually going out of their way to get people to sign it, I walked past the Sportsman association stand several times and no one grabbed me, the petition was just sat on their table.

When I consider that 3 million marched on London and they still banned hunting with hounds, I can not raise any hope that a petition will do any good at all.
(I have signed it)
I believe that it would be better to support one of the shooting organisations, in this case the NRA and let them use whatever means they have at their disposal to work on the parties and help change attitudes.
Clearly this has been a long road, but I suspect we still have a long way to go,

Without order and without a goal, six million people unarmed and unprovisioned, driving headlong. It was the beginning of the rout of civilisation, of the massacre of mankind.
Forever Autumn, War of the Worlds.
