Live quarry deserve all that we can do to ensure a clean kill, getting in close is a key part of ensuring that, a lot can happen with the unpredictability of wild creatures and their environment, the greater the distance the greater the likelihood of wounding, if you can't get in close enough then get better at stalking and don't risk the shot, there is always another day.

I do agree and the only thing I have been known to shoot at beyond 225 is rabbits and I don't even do that these days.

All I wanted to know was how accurate the side parallax on my scope is not a political debate on if a the shot should be taken or not

All that appears on forums are people views, readers have to place whatever value they choose on what people say.

I think 200 yrd shots are too far for live quarry and people who do so are irresponsible, that is my judgement. Obviously you think it is fine to take such shots and that is is your judgement, so we differ, such is life.

I will have my view of what that makes you as a shooter and you will have your view of what that makes me. No doubt there are people on here who will agree with one or other view as well.

If a shooter can group 1-2" groups at 600 yds then I cant see whats wrong applying that to quarry over 100yds given the circumstances are favourable?

Personally I have seen too much go wrong in the field over the decades to agree with that. Shooting groups on the range has very little bearing on live quarry shooting, target shooting and live quarry shooting are two very different "disciplines".

I reality my range estimation skills are so wanting that when I say 100yrds it could well be 75yrds or 125yrds at times, regardless it is close enough with my zero for me not to have to worry about the distance out to my maximum, once you have to estimate distance to gauge trajectory for live quarry then the shot is too far out.
