Yes a nice rifle indeed, it is however now sold.

I have another in .22 Savage Hi Power which is a fine cartridge also this rifle is unusual as it is fitted with express sights.

The scope is a Wadmanshiel 4 x. Nice clear German glass in an uncluttered, robust and simple tube with my favourite post and hair reticle. It has very good light gathering properties for dawn and dusk shooting

Is the .22 Savage Hi Power deemed to be an obsolete cartridge?

No its not obsolete, in fact its a very popular cartridge on the continent where it is known as the 5.56 x 52R and ammunition is readily available.

.22 Savage Hi-Power now thats a name for a cartridge. 5.56 x 52R well its just numbers and a letters that are easily forgotten and confused with all the other similar heartless metric cartridge designations.

A quick search shows the .22 Savage Hi Power as quite a handy rifle. Wiki quotes 3100fps with 90gr bullets which seems a bit on the hot side to me, it must be ideal for vermin to a couple of hundred yards. Wiki suggests a .227" bullets which is a fairly unusual size but I assume it must be a perfect candidate for cast boolits.

How does the take down operate and is it quick, and are they a five round rotary magazine?

Yep they are .228" groove barrels suitable jacketed bullets are available from Hornady and RCBS do a fine mould which I use.

Take down is a doddle, open the action, remove the fore-end (Anson type catch) and unscrew the barrel. Piece of urine.

Five round rotary magazine a la Mannlicher-Schonaeur means that you can use spitzer type boolits/bullets unlike the tube magazine U/Ls.

Even has a round counter on the L/H side of the receiver frame.

How long does the take down take, do you need any tools other than a pair of hands and any chance of a picture of the rifle separated when you get a moment?

Also have you got any brass and dies for it?

From picking the rifle up, taking it down and laying the parts on the desk 23 1/2 seconds. Unfortunately it didn't show on the stop watch in the photograph due to the hurried nature of the picture and the consequential reflection on the watch face.

No tools are necessary.

Just put it back together and it took 18 1/2 seconds.

I wasn't rushing in either case.
