They did announce it - and it was stated that it would be put into effect at the next feasible legislation change. A consultation was published on .gov in Feb 2024 to get public opinion. Before that, it was already slated to be done but needed to follow the formal process. This must be the next relevant legislation change.

The other change that was being discussed was for RFDs to be allowed to conduct a 1F1 swap/variation of sorts if removing a rifle from your posession and selling you the same calibre BUT I have no official reference for this. I believe it is noted in some minutes from a consultation with SMEs from either BASC, or another organisation which also mentioned the removal of mods from FAC regs, so one part of those minutes came true. I will see if I can find it.

If their goal is to reduce workloads on FLDs that would certainly be an 'interesting' way to go.

Can't imagine having to justify why someone has more than one 12 bore shotgun (the same way you have to with the same calibre rifle) would go down too well either
