I like ugly guns...especially when they do little tricks!

& unlike some of the comment posters, I do my shopping for ugly when sober: beer goggles are dangerous things, though I hear she IS good to the kiddies!!

I would recommend a Benelli M2, my heart was set on one, when I went to buy it I seen a Hatsan Escort. I thought maybe buy an Escort for around a third of the cost but I had the M2 and man is it smooth! Mine has not had one jam in about 1000 rounds so far; I know every gun is different.

What ammo do you put through it as a lot of the guys at my club that have m2's have to run more expensive 32g cartridges through them to get them to cycle reliably?

Have they checked that recently? Once run in M2's should run on 28g carts comfortably. Mine will run on 24g too, and i've put a box of 21g through without issue too (though obviously just 25 cartridges isn't much of a test!)

Funny you should mention that as I was out with one on Thursday who had previously said his wouldn't run on anything less than 32g, yet I helped him ;) run 100 plus rounds of 28g through it and it was fine until his bolt release broke :bad: I did also get to look at a brand new one and feel how stiff everything was on a new one.

How long/how many rounds does it take to run one in ?

I'm tempted by a s/h Browning Gold or new Winchester SX3

Mine didn't need a run in or at least it didn't jam with the 28g stuff i was feeding it, but then again as soon as i got mine i was giving it a good hammering with the number of cartridges i put through it. IIRC the manual says 3-400, could be wrong though.

I have used from 24g to 32g no problems. I used the 24g for psg and it never let me down and the recoil was not an issue. I have been informed that 28g will cycle without issues on an M2.

I also did not have to run it in.
