It's the British way. Nuclear disaster? Possibly one of the most severe in the world (back then)?
Let's just rename Windscale and call it Sellafield.

I then decided to file a GDPR claim against Guntrader for damages caused by the leak.

May I ask, what damages were caused?

I have been suffering with stress and anxiety which is causing me to struggle to get to sleep at night. I’ve had to delete my email account due to the amount of spam emails I’ve been getting this was also used as a work email. I’ve also had to change my mobile number as I’ve been getting a lot of spam phone calls or people calling and not speaking.

If firearms do get stolen and are used in some fatally nefarious act, I wonder if the long-suffering shooting community will pay the price (as is standard) to appease the media? Or will it be Guntrader for not making their data more secure? I think we already know the answer.

Funny thing is I have been getting a lot of spam phone calls. National Crime Agency telling me that my NI number has been used in fraud, or some Chinese bint telling me that Amazon are suspending my Prime account. My phone filters out most spam calls, but it's the emails that p*** me off. Keep getting emails from Barclaycard telling me to update my details. No name, or the wrong account number etc. And if another Russian escort emails me I think I'll scream.

They are really annoying but how can you evidence that they are because these perpetrators are using the leaked Guntrader data.

It being at the same time is not really proof, could just be coincidence.

Not challenging your actions just curious how these things would play out in a court.

Sorry to hear that. But in all honesty, I think you may have put your firearms at more risk than a GT leak.

I've had a lot more nuisance calls since the leak - obviously can't be sure they're connected, but I've adopted a policy that if I don't recognise the number I don't answer, and if they then don't leave a message I just add them to a blocklist.

Just had an email from the chap who used to be the manager of the syndicate I shoot for. The email was asking if I could do him a favour. Naturally I replied because the email was from the address I knew, but the favour was to lend him £100. No way in hell would that man ask such a thing. My second reply was to tell him to p*** off and when I looked at the outgoing address it was his name @xx66456u65@gmail.com

I have operated with two email addresses for years. I have my “permanent” address which I use for my back, solicitor and the likes, then I’ll have my “secondary” email that I put on websites, insurance quotes and stuff like that. Once I’ve had a Russian Escort or Nigerian Prince too many, it gets binned and a new one generated.

I don’t get unsolicited or junk mail on my primary address because I don’t share it all over t’interweb. Exactly the same as my address. Need to put one on a web form, two or addresses ago, different door number. Or, point in case, GT has a post code from one town and a street from another.

And the same with my mobile number. A £10 SIM card lasts months in a £10 Tesco burner phone. I once made the mistake of giving my proper number to British Gas whilst waiting for an engineer. Effing phone didn’t stop ringing for a month after that!!

There’s an old Lebanese proverb that I’ve always been fond of, “Trust in God, but tie your donkey first…”

If you’re compromised in World Wide Web-shire, it’s because of information you provided at some stage. It’s worth while remembering that. You don’t go off to work on a morning leaving your doors and windows open, with the lights on because some bloke said he’d look after your place.
