Courses run in Arizona.

You got to to teach them these things for numerous reasons:

1) most guys cannot cook..execpt when a BBQ is in order then they seem to be Gordon Ramsey.
2) most stillt hink that Walmrt or Alberstons will be open so they cna pop along.
3) most don't seem to KNOW how food arrives in that plastic tray.
4) KILL IT!!!!! ARRRGH...they NED to learn that...killing their food is not something many poeple think about.
5) Cooking skills..see 1.

For survival we also do "remote location marksmanship" for all those who only evrer shoot on the same range amd have nevr shot outdoors..hunters of course are different.

Same applies to defensive shooting..a lot of people practice target shooting on the same old indoor range or plinking at cans in the desert...a wee bit discomfort and non cpomfort zone training is an invaluable teaching aid...as is ammo conservation.

I agree that as a kid you may have learned so much but people today are SCARED of their own shadows and think that all the mod cons they have at home will be at hand when they bug out...How many could find water or actually start a fire without matches and firelighters for example?.

Most enlistments start on a 2, 4,or 6 year plan with reserve time.

Hurricane sandy folks prepped?
I would say 99 out of every hundred started their preping just after the sky started clouding up.
