But its the length thats important for me over the width (ooo matron!)
Now that is one pattern I cannot do, well would rather not as it would probably take me an hour or so just to do the fluting as I do not have a CNC facility (Yet) Thanks for confirming the measurements, that makes sense.
The fluting and cone shape aren't really important to me, more that it isn't a massive (in both senses of the word) 'drum' like what i have at the moment.
Thanks again Dave
P.S. I like the 'yet' reference CNC facilities . . .
I can do aggressive knurling however it means using a roller knurling tool which pushes the material away instead of cutting so you will hear me curse if it chops it up.
I have finished for the day so I will head back and spend a little while on this to see if I can produce something to show.

I did not have any stainless of less than 12.0mm diameter and turning it down to 5,5/5,0mm was not for tonight so I made this mock-up from scrap for comment. Is this the sort of thing people are after? The large diameter has a knurl on it and is hollow to reduce weight/inertia.

That is looking good....how "aggressive" is that knurl...
Do you have an example of a "rougher / larger" one...... needn't necessarily be on a handle...
