So how do they got round .22lr AR conversions?, they are even shorter.

Can these conversions function as a firearm on their own , without being fitted into a rifle?.

Also trying to figure out if we can go direct to the Croatian manufacturer “Grizzly Defense Industries”, which would be boat loads easier and cheaper.

Anyone heard of them or know how we can get in touch?

I'm no expert but could it be that those just re-chamber the rifle and use the existing barrel, whereas this conversion has it's own barrel that protrudes from the 7.62x39 chamber and down the existing barrel?

That AR unit must surely have a short barrel ? Look at the length of it - it cannot all be .22lr chamber ?

That's exactly what I was thinking, a .22lr round is much shorter than the .223 chamber insert so technically it is in effect a really short barrel, at least that's how it looks to me.

It’s all interpretation at the end of the day.

Trying to figure out if we can get hold of the manufacturer and if indeed even a 12” is possible with the rear trunnion in the way.

If these kits can't fire without being fitted into an AK receiver then surely they are just a conversion in the same way the AR ones are, the principles the same.

The AR ones are just a smooth chamber insert which does not contact the bullet, it literally jumps from the case mouth free bore to the barrel of the existing gun. Describing that as a barrel is a fairly tenuous IMO. Whereas the AK ones have an actual rifled barrel attached and I don't think even the most generous FLD is going to buy thats just an insert. Those ones might even NEED to be that short so that it can be slotted into the gun, after all the chamber part does hinge open for that purpose. Pity as this would've been a fairly popular item.
