Well I must say, I've enjoyed reading this thread sign92

My two pence worth, As I live in France I can have Semi autos, & pistols, so for me it's a Finnish Tkiv 85 (not a genuine one, unfortunately), SVT-40, PPSh-41 & TT-33.
As well as a couple of Bows, plenty of arrows, good old Katana, and last but not least DIY 40mm with plenty of HE rounds.

I actually left the UK to escape the zzzzom , but I've found a couple in the local town, well I suppose everywheres got to have a village zzzzom

I'd go for something like a Rem 700 in .308 for long range (only if I needed to help another "survivor", not wasting rounds just to test my accuracy :D), a tube-fed lever action with my own design for additional capacity and quick reloads as a medium range weapon, probably .357/.38 for proliferation of rounds, a .22 semi-auto for closer range, compound bow for stealthy kills and saving ammo, katana and kukri for close-quarters and one of Joerg's catapults if I just need to clear the fences :D

IF the end of civilization where to come about tomorrow it would be a matter of weeks till we're all back in the stone ages, no electricity, no transport, no food or water and no communication at all. Your reliance on exotic weapons will only last as long as your barrels or ammo stock, carrying out the simplest repairs will be impossible, your handloading will be a waste of your dwindling energy without constant resupply. Your strutting about the post apocalyptic scenery with a smug look on your chops and a big gun will only draw attention to yourself from those who are desperate. They will be taken off of you by force by the more violent and organised who will over run you.
You won't see me, you won't hear me, you will never even find me or my trail but if you cross me I will have at you with------- my sarcastic wife! Be warned!

Can I chose my wife?

She has
Ballistic absorbing qualities
Is big enough to hide behind, standing or laying down,
Can move herself around so does not need to be carried,
Is an extra set of eyes and a big mouth,
Armed with Pretty big fists, arms, elbows and feet,
Can watch food cook,
Can gather resources, although god knows few are useful,
Is blond so is naturally dangerous - especially when driving,
Knows a bit about first aid,
Her clothes fit me,
Is warm at night,
Could be used to distract or lure men,
Contains enough meat to live of for several days,
1 week in 4 is more deadly than a attack helicopter,
And wont be surprised when I dump her when the going gets hard...
