Horse meat

This is not a hunting or shooting issue but I thought it would be the best place for the topic of horse meat .
The French eat it , so why don't the English , many restaurants have all sorts of exotic meat these days so why not horse meat , is it just a sentimental thing that stopped us eating it or is there another reason ?
I know we have probably been eating it in the past , all be it unknowingly , but why not legally on the menu ?
Cant say that I would have a problem with it , killing one animal is no different to killing any other when it comes to food . So should it be on the menu or not ?

Horse? I'll eat anything.

Properly farmed, I don't see why we shouldn't be eating dogs too.

I don't see why not. We eat just about everything else, so I'm sure it would sell if people were given the choice - unless it's been tried before and found to be a failure, perhaps?

I've eaten horse - it's good, like a cross between venison and beef. I'll happily eat it again.

Not sure why the Brits don't eat it? Maybe sentimentality; as you say...

We cull hundreds of wild ponies every year, and then sell the meat to the French.

If it's sustainable and can be harvested humanely...then I say tuck-in :good:

Protein is protein. As long as it was done humanely, doesn't greatly matter.

I had horse in France and hated it . I would have no ethical objection to eating it though. mrs Logic would though - she spends her life sat on one!
