As anyone seen this yet on the Military Arms Channel?

It is a plywood speed loader from the Ukraine and will (claimed) speed load in to any AK or AR magazine both AK rounds and 300 Blackout and 5.56 (obviously in to the relevant mag before the pedantics pounce)..

Have just ordered one for $84 US (fifty quidish).

Demonstrated on the MAC video it looked so easy and hopefully will save my Xboxed thumbs.

thats more than half the price of magula's version, although theirs will fit in your range bag with your mags...

I have never found loading mags such a chore.

I've always been curious about these loaders but for some reason never bothered to look for a Youtube video to see a demonstration (The price probably put me off!). I was most interested in how you get all the bullets aligned in the feed section, or rather how you do it in less time that it would take to simply load by hand, given than AR mags are pretty easy to load (compared to pistol caliber 30rd mags anyway) and these machines are usually described as speed loaders.

Having seen that video I can't help but think I could do it by hand in a similar, if not quicker time and rather they're actually designed for loading dozens and dozens of magazines, more for saving your fingers/thumbs than actual speed of loading.

I've got a device (and that's being generous) which is basically a plastic channel that clips on top of AR magazines and you can do a similar sort of thing using 10rd stripper clips. If you discount the length of time it takes to fill the clips then it is significantly faster than loading one at a time. The last 5rds or so are a bit of a tight squeeze. It was free though so I'm not complaining! The way I use it is to load all my magazines and then any spare ammo left over I put that onto the clips and store them in the ammo safe like that. Once I've emptied some mags I then re-fill using the stripper clips.
