New Toy Came Home Today......

#1 Post by Sim G »

Some may know I have a panchant for Marlin lever guns and today, I added another to the fold! (Thanks to Dromia who part "funded" the purchase by buying two of my shotguns!)

Anyhoo, an honest Marlin 1893, with an 1896 manufacture serial number is now in the cabinet.....

.32 Win Spl caliber, 26 inch half round, half octagonal barrel, short magazine tube, crescent butt plate and 70% finish! No pitting or frosting in the bore, though a little dark and a tighter action than those produced new today! And, a set of RCBS dies and 100 rounds of factory ammo as well!

This evening, I will mainly be conducting a detailed strip down and clean........ and try to find the camera which went to feed the ducks with wifey and baby.....
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Although not in the same league, I put 40 rounds through my New Marlins on Sunday and I have to say they're awesome. So much better balanced than the Winchester.
It's not the pace of life that concerns me, it's the sudden stop at the end!

Agree with you there, Mike! To my mind, a far superior arm. And, for minor collectors like me, far more reasonably priced.

Take two rifles, Marlin and Winchester, both made in the same caliber and features, such as barrel length, in the same condition, a Winchester will cost you twice the price of the Marlin!

Admin stinks but they can multitask
What is a Sapper? This versatile genius condenses the whole system of military engineering and all that is useful and practical. He is a man of all work of the Army and the public ready to do anything or go anywhere, in short, he is a Sapper.

No mate, it's not "multi-tasking", it's just that they can't prioritise.....

Can't pioritise?

It should be in their DNA by now.

1 cooking
2 washing up
3 house cleaning
4 shopping
5 laundry
6 ironing

Simples. :D

Bit of a problem with that list in this house, ironing is the work of the devil and surely you are missing something very basic but still a pre-requisite..
