Typhoon f12 front sights for PSG

#1 Post by Pesty »

Just wondering what are the options.

Currently using some back up flip up style sights but I think I’d be better with a big fibre optic style especially if I was able to mount right at the front of the barrel.

Might be trying something out tomorrow a member is bringing. What are you guys using?

Why aren't you using a red dot?

No particular reason a few small ones

I like the red fibre front sight in my 3 shot semi and I shoot very well with it.

I like iron sights in general

However I’ve never used a red dot so may like that too?

Red dots seem very expensive for decent ones, it might be something I move to I’m very new to PSG.

Ok well a quick look around vortex venom seem to be popular and I like the life time warranty.

They come in two flavours 3 and 6 Moa dot. What would be best for PSG?

Had a loom through one today I can see that they would be easy to use might take me some time to get used to.

6 MOA would be best. The Vortex optics are very good value. I use one on my pump. You'll get used to it very quickly and won't want to use iron sights again...

Probably give one a go then can always stick it on my 45-70 if I don’t like it on the shotgun

As above, a red-dot sight is best for that type of gun and for that type of shooting.

Larger dots are better for close range/fast shooting, small dots are only really for if you need more precision. An option that gives you the best of both worlds is a central dot with a ring around it such as an Eotech or Holosun reticle.

Which model Typhoon did you go for? (Standard/maxi/sport/puma etc)

IMO: Apart from the Picatinny infested guns, where you cant see the actual barrel, and firing slugs at 100M then using a red dot site is slower to sight at short range. During a PSG course of fire it is surprising the time 'wasted' whilst you try to mount the sight, align the red dot, and think about the target.
