NEW Chiappa 120DS Long Barrel Revolver

#1 Post by JD4570 »

Just announced: the NEW Chiappa 120DS Long Barrel Revolver, specifically designed for the UK market.

Info from the supplier reads:

“The Rhino is the most innovative development in revolver technology in decades, if not since the creation of the revolver itself. Refusing to be constrained by tradition and previous design limitations, the Rhino has improvements that move the revolver forward into the 21st century. Unconventional in appearance and superior by performance, the Rhino fires from the bottom of the cylinder rather than the top. This dramatically reduces muzzle rise and recoil felt by lowering the axis of the bore almost to the palm of the shooters hand. An aluminium alloy frame and barrel shroud make the Rhino lightweight and easy to carry.”

Spec:
• Calibre Options: .38/.357Mag and 9mm (.44Mag to follow)
• Finish: Black Anodized or Nickel
• Barrel: 12” (1:12 Twist)
• Sights: Adjustable Fibre-Optic
• Grip: Walnut
• Weight: 1155g

The cheaper model is the black anodised and retailing at £1,250. I'm still waiting for further info and more images, but the nickel version should be about another £130.

Chiappa says that they aim to deliver to the UK around early October, but urge advance orders as the initial run is likely to disappear quickly.

Enquiries to: jon@jdrguns.com please.

Thanks,

Jon

God, that's ugly. You could buy a really nice Henry or Uberti rifle for that kind of dosh.

Plenty of the these odd ball ideas out there - none of the have caught on yet. I seem to remember that Alan Westlake played about a counterbalanced revolver of some type but couldn't get it passed for competition.

I'm mistaken (getting old?) Alan Westlake's idea wasn't a revolver.

Very interesting indeed to see the reaction it gets. Even more interesting to see if they catch on.

I guess, given that the Tauruses are also now very expensive, build quality will be a critical factor.

Thanks for the feedback folks ;-)

Not keen on the look of that firearm at all. Even if it shoots really well, I much prefer my toys to 'look' better than this.
Saying that, I agree that beauty is very much in the eye of the beholder.

I don't suppose there is any chance of it coming out in more interesting calibres?

Such as .455" Webley .44-40 or even .45 ACP?

Yeah, I've got to say, I'm surprised by the selection.
