Bisley Live Gun and Country Sports Show - Friday 30 September to Sunday 2 October.


One of the biggest events in the country, Bisley Live, is coming up in September and whether you are a shooter or not, this is one show you definitely don’t want to miss!



So what’s it all about?



Around 30,000 visitors and 200 exhibitors will be gathering for the inaugural Bisley Live show being held at Bisley from Friday 30 September to Sunday 2 October. This show represents a milestone in game fairs where visitors, for the first time, will be able to try firearms before purchase.



In addition to the exhibitors promoting their products and services there will be a country fashion show, gun dog demonstrations, lectures on care and maintenance of guns, gun valuations, game food hall, lectures and shooting competitions.

Try before you buy

Bisley Live is the first gun and country sports show where visitors have the opportunity to try a selection of firearms (including air guns, shotguns, black powder pistols and target and hunting calibre rifles) before purchase. This is a unique opportunity for visitors that no other event in the UK has ever been able to offer.

Have a go

Visitors will also have the opportunity to try a variety of guns on the Century Range, Melville Range, the British Sporting Rifle complex, the National Clay Shooting Centre layouts and Bisley Shooting Grounds.



Please note: Visitors must register with the National Rifle Association for both Try Before You Buy and Have a Go using cartridge rifles or black powder pistols – even if you already hold a Firearm Certificate. A minimum age of 14 years applies for these activities. Registration is not required to fire shotguns or airguns. Registration is a simple declaration of your name and address and that you are not prohibited by law from handling firearms. Registration can be completed online at http://bisleylive.nra.org.uk or on the day of the event. In either case, visitors will have to produce photo ID and proof of address to collect their special wristband giving access to the rifle and pistol ranges.



Shooting Competitions

There will be shooting competitions for both shotguns and rifles. So don’t be afraid to show off your skill and compete to be a winner.

Gun Valuations

Is the gun that you’ve been keeping in the attic and are afraid to use actually worth something? Come along to this session to find out. There will be an auction of antique and modern firearms with valuations being carried out.



Gundogs

Howard Kirby of Mullenscote Gundogs will give demonstrations with both spaniels and Labradors.



Muzzleloaders

A fascinating demonstration by members of the Muzzle Loaders Association of Great Britain.



Pistols and Revolvers

Demonstrations by the Sportsman’s Association of long-barrelled pistols and revolvers, plus muzzle loading pistols. Mick Gault, Commonwealth Games gold medallist, plus Tom Redhead, the National Coach, will be on hand to show their skills.



Fashion Shows

Two fashion shows will take place each day highlighting the latest in country sportswear. From mesh vests, gloves, jackets and caps to ear and eye protection, every aspect of shooting wear will be on display. Top brands from all over the world will be taking part throughout the three-day event. The fashion show will help to raise money for Help for Heroes, the show’s official charity.



Game Food Hall

A range of tasty game-themed dishes will be available for you to try, along with game cookery demonstrations given by leading chefs.



Food and Beverages

There will be Cookery Demonstrations by leading Chefs as well as your favourite food at restaurants and food stalls, plus bars where you can enjoy your favourite drinks around the site.



Shopping

There will be a variety of exhibitors, displaying not only a range of guns and hunting accessories, but also clothing from major country clothing brands, footwear and luxury goods for all ages, along with an opulent food hall.



Childrens Attractions

Julie Elborough of Woodruff Gundogs and game cookery teacher Kathy Martyn will be holding special taster sessions of their popular ‘Hunt, Cook, Eat’ course for children. The one and a half hour course will include basic gundog training, followed by a game cookery lesson. For those children without their own gundog, Julie will have her field trial winning Labradors with her for others to borrow for the lesson. After they have worked up an appetite throwing dummies and retrieving cold game, the children then get to leave with a delicious homemade game burger!



Crèche

To help you make the most of the event, a crèche will be available for children aged 4 – 8 years.



Help for Heroes

Bisley Live will be fundraising in support of Help for Heroes, the charity dedicated to those wounded in the service of the country.

Not my cup of tea but for anyone going I would definitely recommend that you have a go at the running deer. More fun that you can shake a stick at.

That is one discipline I would love to get into but as always range faclities diminish as you move away from Bisley. :(

I am going to try running deer/boar for the first time in a few days, it is shot at about 70m and I have no idea how much lead to give it so I suspect there will be a lot of walking back and forth to the target at first

If you were a member of the NRASC then you could come along to one of our running deer days. We now affiliate to the British Sporting RC and are about to train up a few RCO's on their electronics for both deer & boar.

The last day had a huge turn out!!

I'm expanding it all the time. At the moment it's a case of feeling out what people want but I can see the format for next year being 2 days of standard club day (100, 200, century, stickledown and Melville/Cheylesmore) and then one specialist day (BSRC, McQueen etc).

Just something else to find time to do!!!

About right for such events, add the clays, shells and insurance up plus some running costs. Have you seen the price for laser clay shooting recently? Similar prices and no consumables either. The .22 shooting gallery at Newark was similar priced as well.
