New Semi Auto

I have just bought my first Semi. Nothing fancy, just a Baikal...
Thought I would strip it down and check it out. It was unreal. Clogged with crap in every place imaginable... I bought it sight unseen so to be expected I guess. I have given it a thorough clean and it's now just normally filthy lol

It will need stripping again for another going over before I actually shoot it. Anyway I got it for £100 in a sealed bid and they seem to be for sale for closer to £300 elsewhere so I cant argue too much. But god some people just dont clean them I guess.... ever!

Would it be worth getting it professionally cleaned/serviced? What sort of cost am I looking at for that? Being a cheap gun it's not worth spending a lot on but i do like my guns clean so might be worth it.

Congrats on your new Baikal. There are only two things that can survive a nuclear explosion ........ cockroaches and Baikals. cheers

I love shotguns! I love semi shotguns! If you ever shoot it out, Baikals can be banged into the ground and used as fence posts! And at 100 quid, outstanding!

We have just had a Mossberg 920 S/A come in with the occasional fail to fire. It is lovely on the outside, never been fully stripped as the owner felt it would be too complicated.

I have stripped it and cleaned it, and it is a million times better. I'm just wondering if it could still benefit from some professional care!

Having just done my first one on Friday, I can understand their reservations... but frankly it was very straightforward.

That goes for pretty much anything that comes out of Izhevsk.......or Tula!.

Ground dug in Kurland, bit of oil and a bore brush and it'll be good as new!........
