Slings

Hi

Ive been shooting service rifles for several years (SMLE, No.4, K98, Sweedish Mauser, .577 Enfield) All of my rifles have slings and many of my fellow shooters highly recommend using the slings for the added stability/accuracy. Ive tried to use the slings but find them uncomfortable and my shooting not as as good. I’m achieving good consistent results without the sling.

Am I missing the point?

Yes, you are missing the point by posting in the wrong section.

This is the section for new members to introduce themselves.

I suggest you head over to Military and Historic Rifles and post the same question.

I moved all your other posts to their correct sections thinking you would get how it works.

I would say do what works best for you, if you shoot better for not using a sling then happy days.My Mosins etc all have slings but I don't use them either.

I prefer to shoot with a sling off my elbows, however I also have an old wooden ammunition crate that makes a great front rest. I shoot with people who rest both ends of the rifle, mag rest, use bipods or rests and Christel shoots off her elbows or unsupported. We are all different so do whatever works for you unless it is specified in the discipline you shoot.
