I'm up for renewal on my FAC and was thinking of one of these target .38s . Are they S&W quality accurate , reliable etc ? :flag13:

Yep a couple of us have them. They look S&W quality and nothing to go wrong really.

Alan Westlake makes the new cylinders so they are spot on.

Accurate? Well, I'm happy - it's just a fun plinker at the moment but when we get a few more in the club we'll run some comps and find out but lovely for ringing steels.

Yes, I'm quite a recent convert. I'm very pleased with mine. I have a 6" Target Alfa. Not quite the quality of finish of a top end S&W, Korth or Manurhin but a very solid bit of engineering. The target version has good adjustable open sights (I needed to open up the rear sight a bit.) Trigger on single action is really quite ok, double action a bit mushy but really don't use DA.

Accuracy is pretty good and doesn't seen too load fussy - You're limited to fairly low loads but fine for 25 yard targets. There are several recommended powders, I've used Unique and Bluedot and several different bullets, round ball, 125gn 148gn and 158gn - all giving reasonable results. I've now stuck with 158gn soft cast bullet and 3gns of Unique and size bullets to .356. Using CCI 209 shotshell primers.

The loading tool for seating the bullets that comes with the pistol is next to useless but other presses are available.

The only downside for me is that I find the 6" target version a little too heavy for me for good one handed shooting.

These groups were shot at 20 yards with open sights from a sandbag rest:

I have a slot for one but keep missing out on used ones.
I had a look at Alans prototype "Britarms" ml pistol.
All cnc made in the UK. Not sure if they will ever be available but looked like they wont be cheap.
I do quite fancy a nitro conversion Uberti or Ruger.
