One of the guys in the club bought an STG-44 straight pull. Yep, £4K custom rifle. It is rough as anything and perfectly replicates the proper version I had a go of a couple or three decades ago. He is really pleased with it. It is what it is.
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Mini 14.
Not the most accurate in the world, but great fun, and look cool as heck.

Oh, the Mini 14!

We had a thread on here years ago. It was a “boomerang” between pe4king and myself. Every time one of us owned it, we did a little more customisation. Until it really could shoot half decently.

Ovenpaa lost a bet over that rifle...!! lol lol

I’ve fired a straight pull Imbel and a L1A1 and the extraction was.....er....”a bit of an effort” on both, don’t know if it was down to the ammo/cases but compared to my SVD they required a lot more effort. The 54r case has more of a taper than 7.62x51 NATO/.308 Winchester so that may make a difference.

More than a vested interest in 7.62x54r!

Oh yes owned 2 both were excellent shooters no extraction issues. If your thinking of getting one go for the 20" barrel version which is the standard the others are the Congo & Wasp they can kick.
