Yes, the L98A1 - Mainly for Cadets.

There are very few of them "in the wild", but there are some examples. As you can imagine, a rare firearm fetches rare prices. I believe one member here has one.

One or two did get onto the Practical Rifle circuit back in the nineties. I remember reviewing the long barrel version - the LSW version (Light support Weapon) for Target Gun magazine.

I have got one, it's a very interesting rifle.

If you're looking for something ergonomic you would be disappointed, it's heavily weighted to the rear and the trigger is quite heavy. For some strange reason mine preferred RG magazines when I got it, but I haven't tried an emag for a while. If you are looking for something to relive your younger years if you were a cadet (and you were too young for the SLR), they are awesome. That's me and it is my favourite rifle.

I've fired the Steyr Aug and I prefer the L98 cocking mechanism, it's on the right hand side and also designed specifically for straight pull operation (there's a big rail on the side of the rifle that the handle runs on, it's also cammed to help with primary extraction). In a competition I'd use my M4 all day long though, it's far easier to use, the L98 is just for special events - particularly as spares are pretty non existent.

The last time that I saw one for sale was a couple of years ago, the RFD wanted £6250 for it. I didn't pay that much but believe that mine is possibly worth more now. It's academic because I'd only ever sell if I lost my ticket or stopped shooting. I've only seen that one, mine and one other for sale in the last seven years.
The above post probably contains sarcasm or some other form of attempted wit, please don't take it to heart.

My childhood right there as an Air Cadet. Loved shooting that thing and the LSW.
