I’m about to purchase a S/H Southern Gun Co. Speedmaster (2017) which I’m told is in .223/5.56 NATO
Is there any way to check that it is suitable for 5.56 ie would it be marked as such?

Cheers

Either the proof mark or what it says on the barrel - I’ve got a BMS CAM with 5.56 stamped on the barrel near the muzzle.

My speed master has "nato " and 1.456 etched on the barrel and it has the wlyde chamber. It is away getting a new barrel as it happens so not sure how it will be marked when I get it back.
I have a photo of the marking but I do not know how to post a photo.

If it isn't marked (unlikely) you could forward the serial number to Bob and ask him to look up his records.
