Quality glass will always beat high magnification on cheap scopes. And cheap lenses, even with massive magnification might not have the clarity you need.

I have a 30 power Leupold Gold Ring that will do exactly what you want, but you’re going to have to shell out 700 quid… with very few exceptions, you really do get what you pay for with glass.
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Back in the distant past, the standard spotting scope for smallbore was something like a Greenkat. These were basic fixed power scopes with fairly good glass. Usually 22 x 60 but I think there were alternative power eye pieces.
I can never recall having a problem seeing shots in 100yd competitions.

The greenkat I have is the same but also has a higher power screw on eye lens that is a smaller size bit of glass. They are pretty tough bits of kit and bar dropping them go on and on.

I have a cheap Greenkat; had it for 35 years and apart from cleaning the lenses I've never had a problem. I was always able to pick up shots at 100yds easily, even when mirage was running. At one point my club mate was using his Kowa, with a 77mm lens and 40 power eyepiece, and he couldn't see his shots. He was a bit miffed that I wasn't having any problems at all with the cheapo scope.
Never argue with an idiot, he will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.

If you haven't already, buy something worth having

I have one of the eBay jobbies and it’s pretty shocking.

Whilst I can see the holes at 100yds it’s very grainy.

Hello
Greencat 22 x 60 everything I need out to 100mrts never lets me down, its an oldy but goody
Its a generic scope under various manufacturer's labels and can be found on ebay for less then the cost of a box of fmjs
