The Union Flag..

#1 Post by 1066 »

Just a note to say - The image of the Union flag at the header is upside down. :( God Save the King.

Actually it was not upside down, just badly drawn, failed to realise when I inserted it.

why does everyone call it the union flag now? it was always a union jack growing up, why insist on flag now? the union flag was always the american southern flag

Either name is correct but being and old Red Ensign man - It was always known as the Union Flag unless it's flown from the jackstaff, in which case it's the Union Jack.

Something that I hadn't heard until relatively recently was that the U.S.A. also uses the term "Union Jack" when referring to its own flag when flown from the jackstaff of a ship.
