FAC application, advice required please.

#1 Post by NBW »

I am in the process of filling in my FAC application form. I am only going to apply for muzzle loading revolvers. In the section, ammunition to be possessed, should I leave it blank or put N/A ?
I will be applying for an explosives cert in due course.

I would be tempted to put on at least one or two rifles as well, when you change your mind later it could save you some money as a free variation.

Yes, I had intended to send the FAC application and the Explosives Certificate (Form ER4A) in at the same time but the ER4A asks for your FAC number so I am assuming that I must wait until the FAC is granted.

Yep, I'd also put in for a .22lr and an underlever, as I'm sure your club will shoot them and you might enjoy them more than you think. If you don't use them, then no dramas.

Best wishes,

I think you should be applying for a minimum of four guns. The M/L pistol you want plus a .22LR bolt action a .22LR S/A and a pistol calibre lever action even if you don't immediately purchase them. Any "empty slots" can be used for a free one-for-variations at a later date which is easier and cheaper than trying to add another gun.

It's all well and good telling the OP what to put down but he is the one that has to justify each one and if he has no intention of buying one (but the bloke on the internet said I should) it could hurt the whole application. Apply for what you want, not what someone else wants of thinks you want.

If you think you want some different firearms later then ask for them now. If not, apply for a variation later in the correct manner as your needs/desires change. The cost of a variation is not prohibitive
Arming the Country, one gun at a time.

Good deals with Paul101, Charlotte the flyer, majordisorder, Charlie Muggins, among others. Thanks everybody.
