In the1980s, we had a pp1 league which included several Polce Athletic Association teams. Turning up at Lancashire Ploce HQ one night, we found that their regular organiser was in hospital with lead poisoning, due to a fault in their range ventilation system. Our indoor range only had three steel chimneys in the roof and so we panicked. We were checked and were clear and extractor fans were added to the chimneys. Ever since,when Ihave had blood tests, I have asked for lead checks and have always been clear. Since 1985. I have only shot on outdoor ranges. I am 80 and have been shooting since I was 6. I have been casting for 50 years. I agree that the problem is the lead in the primers and not the bullet.

Some GPs won't authorise it unless there is a potential problem or risk as they presumably have to pay for it.
Working on a rifle range every day seems to qualify and I get mine checked every time they do a cholesterol check. Even after a particularly busy period the levels are in the lower end of the permitted safe levels.
