There's chap on Youtube who has done a very useful strip down of a Mateba Grifone, which I'd like to contact him about. Does anyone know him and have contact details?

I bought mine off someone on here, that might have been the chap you mention, I can't recall.

And yes they are UK legal, or met the rules importation rules of the time, 12" barrel, overall over 24" with the stock, and the reciprocating mechanism that increments the cylinder is locked off with metal blocks. I fire it double action, like a revolver, which is UK legal for the 12/24" size, whether allowing to self cock for single action use would actually be illegal is something only a Court could decide upon. Seems a slim margin between single and double action.
It would be interesting to see if the recoil powered system actually works as intended with the long barrel.

Thanks, would be appreciated if you succeed. I'd like to sort out my Grifone. Might take it out for some exercise at Melville next weekend.
