Marlin U/L Cleaning

#1 Post by Yamavira »

1894CS Marlin U/L.
Requires cleaning as inspection indicates the lifter is quite dirty & therefore tending to bind when action is cycled.
Do not wish to completely strip down the rifle if it can be avoided (could get the main spring out but replacing it I'm sure is something else).
Considering removing the woodwork & giving the internals a good spray with Wurth Brake Cleaner. Then a light spray of oil to re-lube & allow to "drip free".

Anyone tried this as a method of cleaning. Was it successful ??.

Comments & advice welcome.

Thanks

Search on YouTube, a few videos on there show you how to do it.

As Lever357 said there are a few tutorials on YouTube.

I also have a Marlin 1894 in .357, I top up the cleaning with lube spray and a wet wipe to clean as much as needed whilst shooting. Prolongs the use on the range until a deeper clean is needed. The main spring placement is not too difficult. The tutorials will assist greatly.

Here's my Marlin for reference :p
