Good Afternoon
Price of Jacketed Bullets (heads) going through the roof so thought I would try loading some hard cast,gas checked,lead bullets for my 7x57 Mauser.
problem. Shellhouse bullets only cast a 168 grain 7mm bullet & the Lyman #4 book only shows data for a max bullet weight of 160 grains.
Would welcome info regarding location of load data for a 168 grain hard cast lead bullet using the powders which are actually available here in the UK.

Contact the manufacturer of your powder of choice and ask the question.
I have gone down this route in the past with several manufacturers and found them in the main to be very helpful.
BTW, bullets are not `heads` in spite of some retailers marking them as such.
In shooting parlance head refers to the case head.

Like yourself I avoid the use of the word "head" when referring to a bullet. Hence the reason "head" was shown thus.
Unfortunately when currently asking questions regarding Bullets there is a tendency for lots & lots of people to think you are talking lve rounds.

The Lyman number 45 reloading manual dated 1970 gives a starting load of 9 grains and a max load of 14 grains for Unique powder. For Alliant 2400 the starting load is 14 grains and a max load of 18 grains. This is for a 168 grain cast gas check bullet of #2 alloy. Mould number 287308.
It might be prudent to check the powder manufactures web site for more up to date information.
