Rifle range for sale.

It's been announced that the MOD is selling off Penally camp and the rifle range situated just outside Tenby in Pembrokeshire.
Seems like the ideal opportunity for the NRA to prove that it truly is a national organisation and not purely focused on Bisley by purchasing the range and developing it as a much needed regional shooting facility.
That would give them some real credibility as a national organisation and disprove all the knockers.

I have just had a look on Google maps. It looks a nice range, 1, 2 and 3 hundred yards with hard firing points and 4 and 5 hundred yards with grass firing points. However, it is situated close to Penally village and a golf course. Also two holiday caravan parks quite close by so I bet there will be some nimby making noise complaints if used as a civilian rifle range.
As an aside, I had a look round a partly constructed new 100 metre rifle range last week. All the plans and permissions are in place, earthworks mainly complete, just waiting for the materials to be delivered to construct the bullet trap and firing points. It should be completed by the end of the year or early next year. I am looking forward to trying it out when it is ready.
Regards
Peter.

Is there the shooting population to support it there?

One of the best practical shooting venues in the country isn't as far into Wales as that and had to cancel a national match because people weren't willing to travel that far, and practical shooters are usually very willing to travel.

NRA spend money they don't have on a range that most users will have to travel miles for? Can't see that happening.

Although a very lovely part of the country, Pembrokeshire is not central to anywhere, not even to Wales.
