Suppressor for Volquartsen barrel

Hi all,

Looking for some advice on Volquartsen barrels. I’m looking at a Ruger 10/22 which has a carbon fibre wrapped V barrel, with a compensator on the end. The compensator is a different thread to my moderator, just wondering if anyone knows what thread it would be, and if there’s an adapter available to use a moderator?

Thanks
Steve

Have you thought about getting a mod to fit the thread on the barrel? It would be better than an adaptor.

Most 22 rimfires have a 1/2UNF (20tpi) thread which is what I'd suspect your one is unless it has been threaded as an after market modification.

1/2" x20 UNF on the end of my 12" carbon wrapped volquartsen barrel on my 10/22.

That’s the thing, it’s not 1/2”, it’s more like 3/4”. I haven’t measured the thread or pitch, but I have several rifles and moderators, it’s like nothing else I’ve seen.
There is a threaded compensator on the end of the barrel which is the same diameter as the barrel, so I need to take it off and get an adapter from that down to 1/2”, that’s what I’m after

contact the person who barreled your rifle? or measure it and google. it sounds like you don't have a standard thread. my SGC lr 9mm had a funky thread on it. it was about that size, but sounds like you need to look at it.

It could be the 30cal standard of 5/8UNEF (24tpi, approx 1mm pitch) or the less common 5/8UNF (18tpi).

Or it could be a metric equivalent - then you're on your own.

Take it to a riflesmith or other person who would know this stuff and get them to measure it.

I have on one of those and used it to determine the thread and pitch of the fitting on my Anschutz butt hook. Turned out to be a 1mm pitch and so I sent off for a 10mm X1mm die to cut a new bolt.
Turns out that Anschutz have their own sizes for their rifles and this was somewhere between 9mm and 10mm.
Just take it to a gunsmith and ask.
