We did a driving trip from North Carolina to Utah and back in May of this year. For fans of the American wild west, here are some places that may be of interest to you:
The eastern starting point of the Pony Express in St. Joseph MO that extended to Sacramento California
Butch Cassidy's childhood home in Panquitch Utah
Doc Holiday's grave in Glenwood Springs Colorado
The house where Jesse James was killed, St. Joseph MO
The grave of a trooper KIA is a skirmish in 1878, located on the grounds of Ft. Reno Oklahoma
The home of Buffalo Bill Cody in North Platte Nebraska
The Mormon Fort at Pipe Spring National Monument, Arizona
A relic revolver at the Scott's Bluff National Monument in western Nebraska, another point along the Oregon trail
Chimney Rock in Western Nebraska, a waypoint for Oregon Trail wagon trains. Ruts from the wagons can still be seen along portions of the Oregon Trail
The Hollenberg Pony Express Station, Hanover KS
