Henry Martini Mk II Carbine sights.

#1 Post by Frank Rabbets »

After scouring the 'net without success I have to turn to the forum for another answer.

When the ladder sight is in the vertical position the horizontal sighting bar falls down. It's either worn or more likely missing a part, perhaps a friction spring. I wonder if someone could supply a picture or drawing please. I make easy or complicated clock parts so could easily make what is needed.

Thank you all.

Why can I not post a picture?

When I click the image logo to add an image when posting "img img" appears after the text I have just written. I checked the rules and it looks like I do not have permission to add to my posts.

Did you then insert the link to your photograph 'tween "img img"?

With the loose rear sight the normal procedure is to gently peen down the "wings" on the rear of the slider bar until the desired amount of tension is reached. Most of them are loose and they would have been adjusted by the unit armourer. You only need the bar in the vertical position for shooting at 400+ yards.

Thank you for the tip on adjusting the friction on the horizontal bar. I was expecting something a bit more mechanical but being so small it might have been difficult to make something sturdy enough for army use.

I will try loading a picture.
