Hi all

This is a bit like Karens "Ideas please" thread.

The NRA needs to make more money and please more customers. One way to do this is by offering stuff for sale that people want to buy. So ...

What should we be offering that we currently don't? Whether gun stuff, pretty stuff, useful stuff, edible stuff, any other sort of stuff. All suggestions gratefully received - orders even more so!

Interesting and/or amusing T shirts (including children's sizes). When I used to make my once a year pilgrimage I really wanted something to take home for the kids but there was never anything.

Reasonably priced reloading components - especially UK-centric such as .303 components.

A reasonable stock of foresight elements. Things may have changed, but last time I asked it looked like the entire stock of elements was whatever had been scrounged out of the hire guns.

The NSRA shop has a full selection but that's not what we're discussing here.

Well it sells powder and ammunition and bullets which is handy however what else it offers or at what price I have no idea, they may even be on display and if so I have not taken them in. So how about adding a section to the NRA website listing what is sold by the Armoury with the current prices. The camp has a huge number of shooters through it yet the only full bore gun shop is F*ltons, I am sure correctly marketed the armoury could add a valuable contribution however you do need people who appear to be interested when posed a question or asked for something. I suspect things are going to change in this area around now.

Also the existing 'shop' area in the range office is a glass fronted cabinet section in front of the door that does not seem very accessible or appealing, it feels like some shelves with some things stacked up on them. That needs to be looked at and the basic cleaning goods like rods. jags and patches added along with cleaning fluids. Plastic MTM boxes are always handy, load trays and COAL gauges, a few low level but nice to have reloading items. I think most important is to get it on the NRA website.

Now on the subject of the range office how about a coffee machine or coffee/tea availability in the range office/range office area, early morning shooters need a coffee and if they do not have access to a club house they have to depend on a flask and then wait until either Jenny's opens on a weekend or head up to the place by the clay pigeon shooting.

The standard of food at both is very poor and prohibitively expensive at both places.

Agree that the few dusty items behind glass fronted shelves are a shopping turn-off, but anything that causes anyone to loiter in the range office, especially at peak sign-on time, would be a negative. People need to get-in, book-in and get-out, especially now that the process is drawn-out by pre-payment. A decent shop and decent coffee area would be welcome, but not if they interfere with efficient processing of the core activity of servicing range bookings.

Don't forget all the foreign people throughout the year using Bisley for the competitions. Bringing back a t-shirt as a memory is important to many. Perhaps get one of those torso dummies to display a t-shirt?

Patches, stickers, keyrings, bottle openers, coasters, beer towels (for covering the scope) sportsbags, coin purses, caps, beanie hats, scarfs...the list is endless...

Might be an idea to separate the shop from the Armoury. It could be off-putting if you want to buy something and there's a queue to book ranges etc.

You may already cover a lot of this (I'm only just getting back into reloading) but:

Bulk so cheap:
.303 cases
174 grain .311 bullets
7.62 cases
155 grain .308 bullets
.357 etc.
A small range of popular powder types at attractive prices i.e. just Vihtavouri and just the 2 or 3 most popular types.
Primers (one brand)
Targetry
Cleaning rods, jags, solvents etc.

At last years Phoenix one stand had T Shirts with things like 'Three Oh Three' etc. on it. That would be the sort of thing. Christel has a point; a good quality T shirt with the NRA figures big on the front and 'Bisley, England' on the back would go down well with guests from abroad. .

Surely not as off-putting as having 20 people unable to start shooting on the targets you are already paying-for, because someone can't decide on the type of cleaning rod to buy?
