Does the NSRA sell full bore stuff? I have never been inside to check them out.

They sell HPS ammo and various other kit that can be relevant to full-bore (mainly TR related since it crosses-over from NSRA/ISSF disciplines - gloves, jackets, slings, rearsight and foresight irises, butt plates, anything from the Gehmann catalogue, cleaning, etc etc - worth a look to know what they have).

Have to be honest, if they have ever sold any of the above I'd be amazed!! Never seen HPS ammo on sale in the NRA and deffo none of the crossover equipment, when did this start?

I guess a good place to start would be to compile a list of what is on sale and put it up on the website. Currently the only things on sale are t-shirts, hoodies & aprons with tacky straplines mainly relating to 2010!!

http://nsc.spreadshirt.net/en/GB/Shop

Nothing appealing whatsoever!!! Even a downloadable word/excel document would be better!!!

Rox was talking about the NSRA shop at the Lord Roberts centre not the NRA shop.

Think I answered this a couple of weeks ago but spreadshirt has nothing to do with us - they are an outside organisation which made some clothing for the 150th anniversary and shouldnt still be advertising it. Not our website and nothing to do with us since 2010!

Didn't see that one Karen, sorry. There are still links to the NSC on the NRA website but under merchandise a starting point would be nice at the very least and a list of products currently being sold could be that point?

After all said and done the NRA have a captive audience attending Bisley and while I go into the Range Office every visit the only time I went into William Evans was to pick up a gun sent by another RFD and I went into Fultons once to buy a breech flag. Everything else I use for my shooting sport I buy from different dealers and often have to travel miles to pick up a specific type of powder or primers. Given that I am at Bisley at least once a month I cannot think of anything more convenient and time saving than to be able to buy all I need in one place - I am fairly certain most shooters attending Bisley would concur with that. Most of us spend more on our sport than we would be prepared to tell our partners, so the potential business is enormous in terms of turnover and currently the NRA get next to zilch.

There needs to be a leap of faith at the NRA to realise the money making potential of every shooter that drives through the gates, not by putting up range fees, but by tapping into the money we all spend before arriving at Bisley. Whether a shooter reloads or shoots manufactured ammunition he has no choice but to spend money getting it. If I could buy all my supplies from a well stocked and well equipped shop run by the NRA at better prices than outside it would be a no brainer. Apart from personal convenience I also want to support my NRA.

But to be in a position to attract this totally untapped market the NRA should stop p*** in the wind discussing how they can add a few more items to the Range Office and invest in a purpose designed shop selling everything one of the bigger dealers might sell. Get the price right, discount for members to encourage non members to join the NRA to get the additional benefit, get the right stock in quantity and watch the money roll in. Imagine what one of the larger dealers would do if the only people who ever passed his shop were shooters, but they can't, THE NRA CAN! This is a huge business opportunity which is sitting on a plate waiting to be lapped up. I run my own specialised business and if I could be sure everyone who passed my door was a potential customer I would invest every penny I had to capitalise and make sure every one who might pass opened the door and bought something - my stock range would be better than anyone else and my prices would be the keenest. Come on NRA, smell the coffee!

I agree with ColinR, and have to say that I was surprised that somebody like SGC havent setup shop there. Rather than clogging up the armory a dedicated shop is needed, either run by somebody else, or directly by the NRA with some support using concessions (reloading or custom equipment). The building formally used by the trench experience would appear to be an ideal site.

I don't think it would be possible to secure that rickety asbestos-ridden relic deemed unfit for (temporary) human habitation by the Kenyans. Besides which, doesn't that triangle of land now belong to the NSRA? Although their hotel-building aspirations may be on hold, I don't think they'd allow a shop to set up there in competition with their own.

I am sure the NRA underestimate their value to the commercial world in terms of sponsorship and support. Having the NRA sell a brand has untold commercial value and I am sure many of the top manufacturers such as Vihtavouri, Lapua, Federal et al would be prepared to chip in to have the world's foremost shooting ground selling their products. The NRA has untold clout to use with manufacturers and commercial organisations, but they need to appoint someone who understands marketing within the commercial world outside of the confines of Bisley. Its just a matter of investment - speculate to accumulate - don't expect NRA staff to suddenly acquire marketing and negotiating skills to maximise this opportunity, get a specialist, someone from the gun trade used to dealing at high level with manufacturers and who knows how to negotiate the best deals. This should be run by the NRA so that they benefit from the entirety of the income and not be half hearted in this approach.
