I think I rather prefer the new Journal. The old one was rather tedious; especially if you weren't a regular at Bisley and didn't know all the 'personalities'. I'd be much more interested in articles about Altcar than I'd ever be in ones about Bisley; simply because I spend most of my time at the former.

The Imperial is clearly important but not that important. Especially if its a four or five page article in black and white. Similarly five pages on the exciting adventures of the Athelings in South Africa, Canada, New Zealand or wherever can be a bit irrelevant to someone who has to Google 'Athelings'.

If the NRA and its Journal is to reflect the entirety of shooting then it needs to think hard about the image it displays. Personally I think it has moved in the right direction.

Is there a theme developing here?

JohnMH, that is exactly my impression as well, gungho theme. The Anders Breivik trial has just started today and one of the pictures of him posing with a rifle reminds me of the Journal front page, not good is it :G

Maybe it's "Walter Mitty" Month?

Christel, how would you illustrate CSR on the front page of the Journal? :-P

It is after all a legitimate discipline and one that is growing in numbers.

Hi Mick,

I think Christel is implying that the timing is a little off with the case of Anders Breivik in the news this week.

You are right CSR is a legitimate discipline that the NRA cannot make up it's mind about, on one hand not promoting / allowing Humaniod targets yet for CSR comps they do. Surely it's best to practice on the target you will be using.

Sadly any picture of firearms on the front of a magazine will upset some people. Nothing we can do about that. Some sensitivity is needed but we shouldn't be ashamed of our sport.

Winter (red) one would always be the Queens Prize winner (traditional since we started having picture covers back in 1970s?) but all the others would be shared about the disciplines if there wasn't something special to illustrate like the 150th Anniversary.

I don't want to insult the poor guy on the front of the current Journal as its not his fault but it is a bit too "in your face" isn't it.
