Obviously your anti bias twists your perception.

At the end of the day it is my call not yours.

However there is a more relevant place for this and that is the Quickload stickie.

No bias twists the perception other than the double standard that says you can do what you want, everyone else must obey the rules.

Absolutely, on the Laptops I am running microshite on if they are connected to the internet then so is microshite.

With virtualbox microshite runs within Linux so my PC can be connected to the internet I can be running microshite but it isn't connected so I am free from their invasive interventions with my computer as well all the malign computer blights that microshite attracts just as the real stuff attracts flies.

I run a virtualbox win 7 image on a linux server (Ubuntu 14.04 fwiw) - then I use NoVNC to connect to a websocket proxy that points at the Virtualbox VRDP connection.....

In plain English - I can get at Quickload from any web browser on any machine in the world. Works brilliantly.

Quite handy for if I'm out and about - can have a quick look on my phone.

On that topic - you need to consider that it has been known that guest os's have been able to get at the hosts memory - and that on industry leading providers of virtualisation. As with most things IT wise - a layered defence is the best approach, hardened os's, audit and logging etc etc.

Also, depending on what you've done with Virtualbox's networking - you may have just put that MS OS on the same network segment as the host os.

Don't feel too safe running Linux (or any os for that matter) even properly patched and hardened systems can still be compromised - after all there's a reason 0 day exploits exist.

For avoidance of doubt - I cannot abide Microsofts offerings, I am a linux fanboi - but as with most things where there's a will there's a way.

My top tip is to measure your components rather than relying on the QL databases.

I use Berger bullets and a few years ago they changed the length by a considerable amount but didn't update their data sheets (when I pointed this out they sent me a free box of bullets!).

I also measure the capacity of a case that has been fired in my chamber.

The calculated MV is always within a few 10s of fps to what I measure.

Anybody with an anything that has a browser can use the internal ballistics simulator at:
http://www.bbt.scot/ballistics/pressure.htm
It is limited to just Vihtavuori and Chemie-Swiss powders at the moment, but more will be added as the powder data is acquired.

Could not have put it better myself!

That is a very good point. Hartmut Broemel has gone to a LOT of trouble to save you the bother of measuring the usable case capacity (volume behind the loaded bullet) yourself. But measuring usable case capacity is (almost) as easy as measuring case capacity to the case mouth - and when you have that, you don't need the library of cartridge cases and the library of bullets in QL. And, it is a lot more accurate to measure it yourself.

Hartmut Broemel, of course, has another market for all that case dimension information. The CIP database of cartridge and chamber drawings were all done by him.

I used Quickload for a while, then I got a PressuretraceII strain gauge and tested my loads. Even with a somewhat formula, I just couldn't get Quickload's CIP results to be close to the psi results. However, the psi results were very consistent throughout the strain gauge tests I performed, some 800 shots.
