Interesting line up.
Still an expense though.
I might reconsider if I can get a car load to go from the club.

Guys,

I'm sure we all long for a UK version of the American Shot Show (trade only BTW).

All events start small and grow - hopefully. If we really want a good shooting show in the UK we must support it and make it grow - otherwise it will go the way of others. The fabulous IWA Show in Germany was 30 stands in 1989, now there are well over a 1000 with 40,000 visitors. (Again trade only).

Yes, petrol is expensive, so is overnight accomodation etc. but, with the right support this show will be massive in a few years but you must support it now!

It's definitely not all shotgun or air-gun. Last year it was fantastic - plenty to see (and buy) for the active shooter no matter what your discipline. Riflecraft, Fox Firearms, Aimfield, Osprey Rifles, Norman Clark, WMS etc etc. all had great stands.

It's a great venue, in a good location. Come on - make the effort!

Hope to see you there
Cheers

Went last year and was chronically dissapointed so won't waste my time and money this year. All over priced top end, hustley buy buy buy. very little reloading or casting stuff. The historic stand was small but good but not many traders made much money some were lucky to cover their costs. I was fortunate to get in with the traders at seven o clock so avoided the crowds and was out at 10. When I came back later it was heaving like cattle in a stock yard wallowing in mud. No thanks.

Dromia - I know you shoot cast boolits and the like so a bit specialised but I thought that display of sniper rifles from the last 100 years was worth the money alone - and for a good cause - Help for Heros.

Yes it was a good display, as was the Bell Target stand but nothing I hadn't seen or handled before and in supporting Help for Heroes I don't need to travel to Newark.

I also shoot condom bullets and game shoot with rifle and shotgun, do the odd bit of Bell Target shooting as well as pop the odd clay pigeon so my interest and experience is far broader than cast boolits alone. I shoot cast boolits for the challenge, results and the pleasure it gives me. The only challenge I will get in Newark will be navigating overcrowded alleyways and fighting to get to stands. Even the grub is overpriced and not great. To me it was all a bit tacky really. OK I may be a snob but for me lifes to short for shoddy.

Comparing Newark's potential to the IWA and the Shot Show will be apple and oranges till they get a modern and civilised venue. Especially with British winter weather.

Vince,

Just out of curiosity and because Google has not got an answer for me, how old is the show?

It took a massive step forward in year two and I hope this year will be another leap in size and quality.

There have been attempts in the past to get a UK show established but the pistol ban didn't help.

With the support of shooters, hopefully we can make this one grow to the extent that members of the trade won't want to be left out.
