Deer Stalking… reliable word of mouth recommendation from someone you know has undertaken such stalking being offered by a specific syndicate is best. Like other walks of life, stalking has its scammers. E.G., make sure there is deer, of the species sought, on the land being made available; that appropriate insurance is in place; that there is recourse for recompense if it all goes wrong. In addition, obtain and understand terms and conditions; consider the implications of allowing a syndicate leader to be a FAC mentor; make sure ‘coaches’ are suitably qualified; consider the quality of deer management, the construction & execution of a shooting plan and safety; determine if the land is over-shot.

If in doubt, contact BASC or similar.

So burying Charlie is not allowed
If you have killed a wild animal as vermin or to reduce the population, you need to dispose of carcasses appropriately.
What does appropriately mean in this instance?

It's there...click on the guidance on carcass burial button.

It refers to emergency situations and people authorised to bury carcases, so does this mean the average fox hunter has such authorisation? I have never met anyone that has mentioned this.

So what do our resident fox hunters do?

I've always understood that one had to bury 1 metre down...as it says in the link.

You must not bury any animal carcasses or parts of carcasses on your land. This applies to dead farmed and wild animals and birds.

However, you are allowed to bury dead pets on your own premises or in an authorised pet cemetery or landfill site.

You can only bury carcasses or parts of carcasses in certain circumstances, such as when a disease outbreak occurs or in designated remote areas. Even if you have permission to bury carcasses you will have to comply with certain restrictions.
