Is the doctors letter a one off as a marker is put on your records or will the police demand another letter at next renewal.
According to my FLD the current Dr's letter will suffice until the next renewal.
Therefore unless there are circumstances which cause it to be looked at again you won't have to get another letter until the renewal of the certificate that the letter was issued for comes up. If you have a FAC with letter and apply to renew an SGC of RFD during the FAC's period of validity you won't need to get another letter.

Good deals with Paul101, Charlotte the flyer, majordisorder, Charlie Muggins, among others. Thanks everybody.
I understood it to be my GP, not the entire NHS.
Govt mandated or not, I didn't consent to a GP (and all his unvetted clerical staff) knowing (but that's besides the point). :)
Things is you can be angry and outraged about it but ultimately what can we do about it. We can't change the situation and no one in their right mind would publicly argue doctors input on a fac/sgc is a bad thing. We will only continue to be put under the microscope and more background checks carried out. Which means our details are put on more systems indicating what we like to do in our free time/ job

No issues with GP input EXCEPT them charging for doing it. They will almost certainly do te work during their normal working hours for which they are already paid. Do they remit part of the fee to the NHS as they are not providing service at that time?
And also, the information can be seen by quite a lot of people not just the GP.

If you went through all the hoops of qualifying as a doctor and are being asked to sign off someone you don't know to hold firearms id want paid also. Simple fact is if you decide to go mental then your gp is going to be the first door the police chap asking how did you get a firearm as the police won't kick the flo in the butt.
We know shooting here is a privilege not a right and we are getting obstacles put in our path at every turn. We don't like or agree with it but let's be honest it is going to get a lot worse to the point where it won't be worth the hassle anymore

If a GP is asked to provide evidence for a COuncil Tax claim - they do not charge. If a GP is called to court to give evidence on a patient - which could be tied to their mental health and could be in court for a day or two - they cannot charge.
